Welcome to UNAB
An invitation to visit the south of the world
Chile is a land of extremes, a surprisingly diverse country. To the north lies the Atacama desert that possesses great mineral wealth. The central area supports most of the country's population and agricultural resources. Southern Chile is rich in forests and grazing lands and has many volcanoes and lakes. The southern extreme is a labyrinth of fjords, inlets, canals, twisting peninsulas and islands. Numerous islands in the Pacific Ocean belong to Chile including Easter Island and Juan Fernandez Islands, the site of a mysterious and ancient Polynesian culture.

Apart from the extreme climatic conditions of the Andes and the Atacama Desert, Chile enjoys a comfortable temperate climate. Due to its topography and length from north to south, Chile has a wide variety of climates. Desert climate in the north between Arica and La Serena, Mediterranean in the center down to Concepción, temperate and rainy from Concepción to Punta Arenas, and polar ice in the Antarctica.

Since Chile is located in the southern hemisphere, students arriving in August can expect moderate winter weather quickly moving into spring and summer weather by December. Exchange students will be able to ski and snowboard at ski resorts near Santiago in August and visit the beaches in December.  Students arriving in March can expect summer weather moving into fall and winter weather by the end of the term.

Universidad Andres Bello
The institution is widely regarded as one of Chile's finest and largest private universities, having been granted institutional accreditation in 2004 (among the first 11 institutions to be accredited in the country). It has approximately 19,000 students enrolled in degree programs - both undergraduate and graduate levels - in the fields of law, economics, business, journalism, psychology, architecture and design,  engineering, computer sciences, health sciences, dentistry, aquaculture, marine biology, environmental  engineering, among others.

The University is divided in two campuses in Santiago, one in the eastern suburbs of the city (La Casona Campus), and the other one more centrally located in the downtown area; one campus in the coastal city of Viña del Mar and a Marine Research Center in nearby Quintay.

Programs and Academic Calendar
Universidad Andrés Bello’s academic year runs from mid March to mid December. The year is divided into two semesters: the first runs from March to July, the second from August to December.  Students can choose to start in semester one or semester two.
